Historical Background

The Center for Positive Futures (CPF) is a parent-initiated high school started in January 2001. The school was established by parents who wanted to provide alternative education to their children. In the first two years of operation, CPF functioned as a research extension school of the St. Joseph's College (SJC) of Quezon City. SJC provide a home to 20 high school students in Esteban Abada, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

After two school years in Quezon City, these 20 students graduated from SJC through CPF. At the end of the 2nd school year in April 2003, CPF decided to close its operations in Quezon City, which was then catering to children of middle class and upper middle class families, to concentrate on giving education to those who have less.

The founders of CPF, most of whom are alumnae of SJC, wanted to give more than education, consistent with their advocacies. The objective was to provide opportunities to those who are economically disadvantaged to enjoy a high quality and alternative kind of education., through affordable tuition fees payable in easy terms. The school project was also seen as a contribution to complement the public school system, in the hope of decongesting these schools and accommodate those who cannot already be accommodated by the public school system.

So in the schoolyear 2003-2004, CPF opened one high school in Bgy. Balite, Montalban and another in Bgy. Guitnang Bayan I, San Mateo. In schoolyear 2004-2005, CPF opened a high school in Bgy. Banaba, San Mateo an another in Bgy. Sto.Rosario-Silangan in Pateros. This schoolyear 2005-2006, CPF started rural high schools, one in Bgy. Sicsican, Puerto Princesa, Palawan and another in Bgy. Mapalad, Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija. Since schoolyear 2003-2004, CPF now operates as an independent school but continues to be assisted by SJC. In the school year 2006-2007 the CPF Montalban Annex started to operate to cater students from Montalban , Rizal . It is locate in Diaz Compound Manggahan, Montalban, Rizal .

In response to the findings of the Department of Education that high school entrants are ill-prepared, the CPF opened pre-schools. This is to prepare children for early socialization, values formation, and academic preparation for grade school last school year 2005-2006. So CPF started giving pre-school education in three locations: Bgy. Dalig, Antipolo, Bgy. Sto. Rosario-Silangan, Pateros, and Bgy. Assumption, Sapang Palay, Bulacan.

Today, CPF continuously develops programs like business opportunities for parents to meet the needs of families and communities which the school intends to serve.
